Complaining about a problem without proposing a solution is called whining.

James M. Lawrence

James Lawrence is an associate in our Phoenix office, working in our law firm’s business and finance law practice group. He focuses primarily in the areas of entity formation, partnership and corporate tax matters, mergers and acquisitions, and other complex business transactions.

Taking an indirect route to becoming a business attorney, James initially worked for the Department of the Interior as a hotshot firefighter, where he fought fires across the western United States and interior Alaska. He eventually became a lead firefighter, before attending law school at Arizona State University’s Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law. During his time in law school, James worked with us for two summers as a summer associate. James thoroughly enjoys working with local businesses here in the Valley of the Sun. The nature of this business attorney’s transactional work means he has a new challenge to tackle and a problem to solve every day.

Outside of work, James likes fly fishing, hunting, hiking, CrossFit, and traveling.
