AYAN K. JACOBS

The river is constantly turning and bending and you never know where it’s going to go and where you’ll wind up. Following the bend in the river and staying on your own path means that you are on the right track. Don’t let anyone deter you from that.

-Eartha Kitt

Ayan K. Jacobs

Ayan “Yani” Jacobs works in our labor and employment law practice group, as well as our business litigation practice group, focusing on matters such as contract disputes, wrongful termination and labor and employment class-actions suits. As a business litigator and employment attorney, her clients include LLCs in Arizona, and she works closely with the Arizona Corporation Commission.

After receiving a bachelor’s degree in sociology from Cornell University, Yani thought she was on track for a career in human resources. However, the soon-to-be labor law attorney was intrigued by how many times she heard the phrase: “we’ll need to talk with the legal team.”

As someone who has always had a passion for uncovering hard-to-find answers, she followed the opportunity — and sunshine  — to attend law school at the University of California, Los Angeles. After working here as a summer associate, she ultimately chose us in the Valley of the Sun as the firm to launch her career in employment law and business litigation.

Yani has a fervent and demonstrated passion for social and criminal justice issues. While in LA she was heavily involved in the UCLA Reentry clinic as well as the Police Accountability clinic. As she takes on Phoenix, Yani is committed to integrating these ideals and values into both her legal practice and her involvement with the community.

When she is not hard at work as an employment attorney or binge-watching the hottest shows on Hulu or Netflix, you will probably find Yani at a dance class or in the kitchen, perfecting her latest appetite for keto cooking.
