Plaintiff attorney James Goodnow, a Harvard Law grad, has been described as a “brilliant advocate” who is “dedicated to his clients.”1 He has first-chaired or co-first chaired hundreds of cases to successful resolution and helped clients recover tens of millions of dollars.
He regularly appears in the media. He and his cases have been covered by CNN, MSNBC, Fox News, ABC News, CBS News, NBC News, the Wall Street Journal, the Washington Post, Newsweek, People Magazine, the Arizona Republic and many others. (See hyperlinks below to view select videos and articles.) He and his wife were featured on an episode of HGTV’s House Hunters.
Goodnow has been recognized for his creative approaches to the law. In a cover story, the ABA Journal -- the official publication of the American Bar Association -- named him one of “America's Techiest Lawyers.” iPad maker, Apple, selected him as the first lawyer ever to be featured in one of its global commercials, and it also ran a profile piece on the innovative ways Goodnow and his colleagues have used technology in the law on Apple.com.
He has received countless awards and accolades. Newsweek showcased Goodnow as one of “20 Leaders” among “Plaintiffs' Trial Lawyers” in the United States. The National Trial Lawyers selected Goodnow for inclusion in its “Top 100 Trial Lawyers” list. North Valley Magazine featured him as one of the top four personal injury attorneys in the Valley. The National Academy of Personal Injury Attorneys selected him for the “Top 10 Attorney Award, Under the Age of 40,” and he has been named to “40 Under 40” lists by the the Phoenix Business Journal, the American Society of Legal Advocates and the National Trial Lawyers. He has been named a Legal Network “top attorney” and a SuperLawyers® “Rising Star.” His peers have given him the highest-possible peer-review rating: AV-Preeminent.
Goodnow is deeply committed to his community. As a father of two, he has donated his time to helping create, draft and pass legislation aimed at saving the lives of children. He is an active member of his church. He volunteers his time at The Arizona Center for the Blind and Visually Impaired, where he has also served as a board member. Within his firm, he helps new lawyers hone their trial skills as co-chair of the firm’s Advocacy Training Program. Every year he handles countless cases on behalf of victims pro-bono, and he has been selected and served pro-bono as a Maricopa County Superior Court Judge Pro Tempore.
